Sho Nakamura
Ikebana Artist / Instructor
Certified Ikebana Professor (Ikenobo School)
Sho Nakamura is an ikebana artist and instructor based in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in the Ikenobo school of ikebana, the oldest and most traditional form of Japanese flower arrangement.
In addition to running her own ikebana classes in the Shibuya area, she is actively engaged in teaching ikebana in public elementary and junior high schools, as well as providing workshops, floral installations, and cultural programs for companies and commercial spaces.
Her work goes beyond technical instruction. Sho focuses on cultivating a refined sense of aesthetics through observation, structure, balance, and decision-making, all of which are central principles of ikebana. She believes that the disciplined yet flexible mindset developed through ikebana practice is highly relevant to modern life, including business, education, and leadership contexts.
She has completed advanced training at the Ikenobo Central Training Institute and was awarded the Tachibana Prize, recognizing excellence in both technique and artistic approach.
With extensive experience across educational, cultural, and corporate settings, Sho emphasizes teaching that respects individual sensibility rather than imposing uniform answers. Her instruction encourages patience, clarity of intention, and the ability to see relationships within a whole—qualities essential not only in ikebana, but also in contemporary professional environments.
Today, her activities include:
・Leading regular ikebana classes for beginners to advanced students
・Teaching traditional Japanese culture in schools
・Conducting corporate and group workshops
・Creating and supervising floral displays for commercial spaces
Through these endeavors, Sho continues to explore how traditional Japanese aesthetics can be meaningfully integrated into modern society, both in Japan and internationally.
